In Pre-k we........

• celebrated Tabi Cat, our Friend of the Week!  
• introduced little Lego's to the table toys and built new structures.
• added more dress-ups to the house area. There are doctors' tools and uniforms, purses, high heels, jewelry and babies!  Tabi is an elegant and busy doctor.
• started celebrating Chinese New Year, the year of the dragon.  Stay tuned for news of our upcoming Chinese New Year parade.
• started practicing saying good-bye at the door.  Some Unicorns spontaneously wanted to try saying good-bye at the door early.  It was empowering and positive.  All Unicorns will start saying good-bye at the door on Monday.
• listened to one of Lucas' favorite books, When a Dragon Moves In , thanks for reading to the Unicorns, Gary!

• sang "Skidamarink" and "In the Streets of Chinatown" and our poem is "Pussycat, Pussycat"
• added two new book baskets, "Pets" and "Clifford".  We narrowed our animal study to "Pets".  The Unicorns voted between Pets and Dinosaurs.  The vote was Pets 13 and Dinosaurs 4.  We'll study dinosaurs after our pet study!

Meet our reading buddies!!! and other reading matters!

We've been with our reading buddies, Ms. Wilkes' class, since the beginning of the school year!
Each Unicorn gets to read with one or two 2nd graders.  We love reading with our reading buddies!!!

Special Message about the Read-a-thon!

Mrs. Hudson and I just realized two things:

1.  There will be no Pre-k on Friday and this is the 1st day of the Read-a-thon!

2.  On Monday, January 30th you will be kissing good-bye at the door so you can't fill out the main reading log that is posted in our classroom!

Don't worry!  Send in the orange reading log paper on Monday and we will fill in the chart!!! We'll let you know how it all goes!  Happy reading!!!!

One Reminder....the school library is open tomorrow morning from 8 to 8:30 for anyone to read or check out books!  It is open every Tuesday and Thursday morning from 8-8:30!  It's a really nice way to read and start the day!

Kate sent a gift for Mr. T!  Mr. T loves his new friend!!!!  Turtle keeps Mr. T company when the Unicorns go home at night.

In Pre-K we....

• made "friendship flowers"to honor Dr.King. 

• had our 1st Friend of the Week, Tom!
• traced Tom, interviewed Tom, made spaghetti for Tom and ate Tom's snack, bananas and crackers, yum!  Thank you for the fun and the delicious food!
• added new clothes and hats to the house area.  There are police uniforms, mail carrier clothes, medical uniforms, gowns and scarves.
• added a new choice, Computer!!!  Just in time for our blog!
• added water to the sand table too. 
• decided to add 2 more pockets to the attendance chart.  The Unicorns pointed out that Mrs. Hudson and I are Unicorns too. Now we will have 20 pockets, perfect! 
• had a special walking trip to Kate's house.  We brought Princess Phenelope, her teddy, to her.  The bear fairies said it was ok for Princess Phenelope to stay with Kate because she could help Kate get better!  We had choice time at Kate's and signed Kate's cast.  Kate made a goodie bag for every Unicorn, even Ms. Giselle the Principal!  Each goodie bag had a cookie, gummy animals and a special love note from Kate!  Thank you for the visit Kate and Loren!!!  Get better soon!  Images will come next week.
