It was an extra sweet Valentine's day with the Unicorns.   We surprised Mrs. Hudson,  Happy Bday Mrs. Hudson!

Kate came to surprise both the Unicorns AND Mrs. Hudson.  She was our Valentine's  surprise!

Patrick and James built a lot of dragons this week!

Pajama Day!

In Pre-K we........

• had a busy week!  The photos tell all!
• celebrated Shay as our Friend of the Week!  Farah came to help celebrate.  She did watercolor pencil postcards with the Unicorns.  Shay brought in his favorite snack, vanilla Bubbies.
• made Valentine's for our families.
• had a teddy bear picnic with the whole Pre-K (we made heart and bear shaped sandwiches for the picnic).
• wore our pajamas to school on pajama day!!!
• watched the movie Balto (over 2 days, starting on Pajama day)!
• had a surprise Valentine's/birthday party for Ms. Hudson (thanks for the cookies Clara and Lori!). 

Looking Ahead:

1. Have a great winter break!  See you on Monday, February 27th!

2.  Enjoy all your time with Corduroy, Shay!

3.  Samantha will be our next  F.O.W. (Friend of the Week)

In Pre-K we....

• celebrated Stella, our Friend of the Week!  We made spin art with Jilian, traced Stella, played Animal Bingo, interviewed Stella and ate her delicious, #1 snack; strawberries, blueberries and graham crackers!
• visited with Kate!  Loren brought Kate to school on Monday to  eat lunch with us!!!  We loved being with Kate!  She still has her big cast, but hopefully she'll get a half cast soon and come back to school!
• met Shay the dog!  We learned about having a pet dog.  He showed us his tricks.  Some Unicorns petted him and some Unicorns played fetch with Shay! The Unicorns were fantastic with him!

Happy 5th birthday Shay!  His real birthday is the 12th!

 Happy Birthday Mrs. Hudson!

• celebrated the February birthdays!

• sang "How Much Is That Doggie In The Window" and today we sang it with the Sharks and Ms. Simms played her ukulele, it sounded great!
•                                Looking Ahead!
• On Monday, Feb. 13 Shay will be the Friend of the Week!
• On Tuesday, Feb. 14th we'll celebrate Valentine's day and make bags to collect the Valentines from friends.  If your child wants to make Valentine's cards that is great, but NOT mandatory!  That is a big job for a 4/5 year old!
• On Tuesday we will also have a teddy bear picnic with the entire Pre-K.  No snacks are necessary.  We'll make sandwiches in school for the picnic!  We are celebrating all 3 classes having their own teddy bears!

In Pre-K we.....

• started saying good-bye at the door! There were a few brief tears at the beginning, but on the whole it went very well. I think the Unicorns are feeling empowered and more independent.  It's a big step in that Kindergarten direction!
• celebrated Sylvia as our "Friend of the Week".
•  
• continue reading the chapter book, My Father's Dragon 
• celebrated Chinese New Year with stories, songs and finally, a parade! 
• continued painting at the easel with pink, purple, green, orange and white paint.
• continued our pet study.
• made delicious corn muffins with Sylvia's mom Rebecca!

Looking ahead!

Happy Birthday Lucas!!!!  The 1st Unicorn to turn 5!

Stella will be the new Friend of the Week!

We'll celebrate the February birthdays on Thursday the 9th.
